Among the large amount of figures dedicated to Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Rem, Kadokawa’s Birthday Lingerie ver. is the first scale item for this lovely and interesting character I have the honor and pleasure to review.
The figure comes in a fully transparent box, very well decorated and definitely stylish. Rem comes fully assembled and her base (the cushion) is put just under her in the box, covered by a layer of protective, clear plastic. So, all we need to do to have this figure on display basically is unboxing Rem.
The 1/7 scale figure is completely lovely and is very faithful to the illustration she’s based on, even better I would dare to say. The sculpt is good and quite detailed, and the paintwork follows the same, pleasing pattern.
Everything is mostly okay, if we just ignore some minor flaws here and there; like the strand of hair on Rem’s head (on the back), which looks like it was just roughly glued there. That was supposed to give some kind of “vitality” to Rem’s hair, but it ended up just looking as an extra, unwanted part sitting there for no reason.
That aside, this figure looks very, very good. My favorite part is Rem’s face, which is the main reason I decided to order this figure back in June this year; Rem’s face is utterly, almost disturbingly (but in a good way!) cute. The expression the girl wears on her face perfectly mixes with Rem’s pose and outfit, making this a piece way to pleasing to look at.
Rem comes with a cushion base, which is very soft and well designed. She doesn’t have a flat base, so she looks like she’s on some kind of bed when placed on the cushion, which is a smart choice considering the theme of this figure. I wouldn’t really see fit for a plain, barely stuffed piece of cloth in this context, so I really appreciate how Kadokawa went with this simple, yet interesting and very beautiful base.
This Rem figure definitely is able to add a rich and very well welcomed touch of cuteness to my entire collection, and quite happy I decided to buy it!
